Getting Started With Guitar Part 1: Picking Which Guitar To start With

When you’re first starting out with guitar it can be a fun and exciting experience, but it can also be very confusing and difficult. Luckily nowadays there are a lot of online resources to help you out with any problems you may come across. So let's get started. 


Picking The Right Guitar

Picking your guitar is very important. The types of guitar, Electric and Acoustic. There are pros and cons to starting out with both of them. 


Electric Guitar-

Pros

  1. It’s easier to play

  2. It’s very versatile 

  3. You can practice quietly

  4. It’s a lot easier to record when you feel like your ready

  5. It’s easier to travel with

  6. There are a lot of options



Cons

  1. You will need an amp or a pedal with Amp simulation to practice properly 

  2. It will take longer to build finger strength 

  3. It will take longer to pick which guitar want because there are too many options



Acoustic Guitar-

Pros

  1. It will build your finger strength a lot faster 

  2. You don’t need an amp to practice 

  3. There are less options to choose from in the beginner price range

  4. It can be very inspiring for singer songwriters

Cons

  1. It will be difficult to learn guitar solos 

  2. It is harder to get professional sounding home recordings

  3. Practicing quietly will be very difficult



Summary

  I personally think it’s better to start off with acoustic but both are great options if you’re just starting out.
